Vicki Lynn Harrell
August, 1972 - Bloomington Police officials were to question today "associates" of a 25-year-old Bloomington woman, formerly of Bedford, who was found strangled Monday afternoon in a field near Spencer.
The nude body of Vicki Lynn Harrell was found lying face down in a water-filled ditch on the east edge of McCormick's Creek State Park, three miles east of Spencer. An Owen County highway worker discovered the body in a small lane, one mile north of Ind.46.
Vicki Lynn Harrell was born August 15, 1946, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Lawrence and Wyrtis Hawkins Harrell.
She was a member of the Bedford Pilgrim Holiness (Wesleyan) Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Samantha; the father, of Bedford; the mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. John Perry of Bloomfield R.R.; two sisters, Mrs. Cathy Doane of Bloomfield R. 2, and Mrs. Laura May of Crane; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lin Harrell of Bedford R. 6;the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ola Hawkins of Oolitic.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Rev. Benny Southerland officiating. Burial will be in Patton Hill cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
