BEDFORD — Louis J. Padgett, 58, 1001 Lincoln Ave., Bedford, died at 11:16 p.m. Sunday at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford.
Born Dec. 12, 1947, in Bedford, he was the son of Morris and Josephine (Seidl) Padgett. He married Ruth E. Edwards on Nov. 7, 1970, in Bedford, and she survives.
He worked in bookkeeping and computer networking, most currently for Hoosier Hills Credit Union and previously for Rogers Group in Bloomington for 20 years.
He was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the Class of 1965, attended Vincennes University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford, where he was an avid volunteer at both St. Vincent de Paul school and parish.
Surviving with his wife, Ruth E. Padgett, Bedford, are two daughters: Margaret Jackey and husband Wayne of Belleville, Mich., and Elizabeth Craig and husband Benjamin of Camby; one son, Joseph S. Padgett of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Calvin Craig and Elliot Craig of Camby; one aunt, Mary Frances Embree, Williams; one cousin, Virgil Padgett, Bedford; and one nephew, Perry Michael Edwards of San Francisco, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Louis J. Padgett in infancy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
